The last day of the 1st week in the Ebrington / エバリントン最初の週の最終日

After arriving in Belfast before sleeping,  I ordered stuffs which I need for the project on both Amazon and Ebay.

ベルファストに着いた後も、寝る前に発送日数を踏まえ今後必要になるものをAmazonとEbayより注文。

After waking up the next day, I brought the caravan to the storage and collected the Tabor Drum in the post office and bought 2 hooks in DIY to make the place to hang clothes inside the caravan.

起床後、キャンピングカーを置きに倉庫へ行き、タボアー太鼓を郵便局で受け取り、

キャンピングカー内に服を掛けるところがなかったのでDIYストアで2種類のフックを購入。

After coming home I complained about the 2nd generator which didn't work after 1st use to the Tesco Direct. So they will collect it and bring the new one on this Thursday.

Actually the 1st generator I bought for this project was stolen in the street unfortunately. The 2nd generator has a technical problem from the beginning.  I have a bad luck for the generator.

家に帰宅後、一回使った後すぐに使えなくなってしまった二台目の発電機の文句をテスコに言った。木曜日に新しい発電機と取り替えてくれることになった。

実際のところ、最初の発電機は不運にも通りで盗まれ、二台目の発電機は最初から不良で、自分は発電機の運が悪いようである。

Chain reaction / チェーン・リアクション

As an artist one of the greatest pleasure to get is if I could inspire other artists through my art work.

As I wrote in the diary yesterday, a Derry based performance artist, James King gave me a special gift as a reaction to my project.

One day after he came again with a friend. ( Actually he even brought friends to my caravan twice after 1st visiting. Thank you James! )

The friend came today was so excited with my project and he has started shooting a video with interviewing us.

Afterward he made a phone call to invite 2 street performers to let them make a collaborative performance with James King around my caravan.

Even though I was surprised the event I have never expected has happened suddenly, I have also felt pleased that the project seems strong enough to inspire other artists and creators while watching their performance as an observer.

もし自分の作品がきっかけで、同業の他のアーティストに触発を与える(インスパイアさせる)ことができたら、それはアーティストとして最も光栄なことの１つに他ならない。

デリーを拠点とするパフォーマンスアーティストのジェームズ・キングが自分の作品に対するリアクションとして特別な贈り物をくれたのは、昨日の日記で記した。

次の日の今日、ジェームズがまた別の友達を連れて来てくれたのである。実際のところ、ジェームズが最初の来訪の後、友人を連れて来てくたのは今回が２度目なのである。ありがとうジェームズ！

今日の友達はとてもプロジェクトに興奮していて、僕らをインタビューをしながらビデオで録画を始めた。

その後、ジェームズとのコラボレーションでパフォーマンスをさせるために電話で２人の大道芸人を呼びよせ、自分のキャンピングカーの周りでパフォーマンスを始めたのである。

全く予期せぬ展開にあっけにとられていたが、完全な傍観者として彼らのパフォーマンスを見ながら、今回のプロジェクトが他のアーティストたちやクリエイターをインスパイアさせるのに十分強度のある作品なんだということを感じ光栄に思った。

After waking up earlier than usual I drove to the republic of Ireland with crossing the border to buy Irish "Cadbury" Chocolates. Now I have got more collections to hung accompanying with British  "Cadbury" Chocolates I have bought before.

いつもより早く起きて、国境を超えてアイルランドにアイルランド産のカドブリー・チョコレートを買いに行った。前に買った英国産と併せてコレクションが増えた。

2013年10月27日(日)付のキャンピングカー内装

It has been raining everyday / 毎日雨

I have not got the fine weather since I started showing my project in Ebrington. It's a pity. 

Just yesterday Derry based performance artist, James King gave me a special gift as a response to my Borderline Project.

This recorder he gave me is a hybrid design as we can use this also as a flute.

He explained this side is Protestant side and another side is Catholic side.

He thought this is made in Japan. And it must be a perfect gift for a Japanese artist of me.

But I see this is from China as I can read Chinese letters which means "Shanghai, China" on this.

But it's a really great gift anyway.

エバリントンでプロジェクトを見せ始めてからというもの、毎日雨が降り続けている。残念だ。

昨日、デリーベースのパフォーマンス・アーティスト、ジェームズ・キングが自分のボーダーライン・プロジェクトに対する、

反応として、特別なプレゼントをくれた。

彼のくれたのはハイブリッドデザインの笛で、横笛にも縦笛にもなる優れものだった。

彼は、こちらがプロテスタント側で、こちらがカトリック側だと説明してくれた。

彼はこれが日本製だと思って、日本人アーティストの僕にとって、完璧な贈り物だと思ったらしいが、

中国上海の文字が読める通り、中国製のものだとすぐわかった。

しかしながら素晴らしい贈り物であることは間違いないと思う。

気持ちの籠った贈り物を、ほんとうにありがとうジェームズ！

Finally I found out the way to fix the annoying door of the refrigerator, which will always open during driving. I got to relive about it.　

ついにいつも移動中に開いてしまう、うざったい冷蔵庫のドアを固定できた。安心した。

The subject I have to deal with / 対処すべき課題

After checking people in the Ebrington square in these few days I have decided to change the direction of the caravan with facing to the approach of people who come to the Ebrington square for a test.

Because of the geographic location of the caravan, I found it's not so easy to invite all people who came to the Tuner Prize exhibition into my caravan.

But this Ebrington square is really good place to show my caravan to the public anyway as a part of the City of Culture event during the Tuner Prize show.

In fact some local people occasionally enter my caravan, and some people visit my caravan with checking my information on the internet beforehand.

Since I started this project, I have been also noticed because the caravan is usually private thing, most of the people hesitate to enter it.

But if anybody enters my caravan once,  he/she will always get surprised with the inside beyond his/her expectation.

Next week I will order stickers which I will stick outside of the caravan to show my project more clearly to the public to invite more people inside.

ここ数日エバリントン・スクエアの人々を観察した後、エバリントン・スクエアに入って来る人々の方向を考えキャンピングカーの向きを試しに変えてみることにした。

キャンピングカーの位置の地理的な条件から、全てのターナー賞展のお客を自分のキャンピングカーに招くのは容易ではないと思った。

しかしながら、エバリントン・スクエアが、文化都市イベントの一貫として、ターナー展開催期間自分のキャンピングカーを見せるのに、大変いい環境であることは間違いないと思う。

実際のところ、たまたま地元の人々が入って来たり、あらかじめインターネットで自分の情報を見つけた人々が入って来たりしている。

プロジェクトを開始してから気づいていたが、通常キャンピングカーはプライベートなものなので、多くの人々は中に入るのに躊躇してしまうのである。

しかしながら、誰しも一度キャンピングカーに入れば、彼らの予想を超えた内部に驚愕するのである。

もっと人々を招き入れるためプロジェクトであることを明示したキャンピングカーの外側に貼るステッカーを、来週発注しようと思う。
